I have been counselling for over 17 years with several counselling agencies (Relationships Australia, Interrelate, LifeCare and Salvos Counselling) as well as working in my own counselling business. I am fully accredited as a Clinical (senior) Member of PACFA, Australia’s peak body for counsellors and psychotherapists, and am an accredited supervisor with them.
In the last 20 years I have also gained extensive experience running groups on parenting, assertiveness, domestic violence, anger management, communication, step-parenting, couples’ issues, and working with children.
Couple counselling has been a major part of my work throughout those years. I also work with parents and their children to help resolve difficult interactions. Sometimes I use Sandplay in these and other sessions.
I run training for other counsellors, community workers and case workers. More about that will be added to my site in the New Year. Writing about counselling is also part of my work: you can access some of that writing in my Articles section here.
Since 2005 I have provided clinical supervision to counsellors, health workers, community workers, managers, Brighter Futures workers, trainee counsellors and others.
I have experience working with many issues including:
- anxiety and depression
- self-esteem and confidence
- anger/domestic violence
- grief and loss
- relationship problems
- family issues/parenting
- trauma/childhood sexual abuse
- children and adolescents
- school refusal/bullying
