My Approach

You are the expert in your life. I am there to facilitate a shift, or a new way of seeing your situation. Sometimes you need information, strategies and practical input to get you back on track.  I am there to help you sift and sort, think out loud and understand yourself or relationships better. Sometimes you need more than a tune up: then you may decide to work on understanding yourself from the inside out.

I believe that how we relate and the connection we form is central to the success of therapy. Therefore I set out to be real, to be truly present with you in every session. You will find I work hard to understand things from your point of view, and to find a way through that works in your unique way.

Curious about theory?

My main theoretical framework is EFT (Emotionally Focussed Therapy). (see Resources) Well researched, EFT does not “do” things to you, but it aims to help you see the problems in your life or relationship differently. I draw on Existential approaches, Person Centred, Gestalt, Systems, Relational, Narrative, Internal Family Systems and Strengths-Based approaches. Focusing and mindfulness approaches inform me, and Gottman’s ideas help in my work with couples. (see Books)
